With $27.2M, "The Exorcist: Believer" attracts viewers interested in horror and dominates the ticket office.
Inside Los Angeles "The Exorcist: Believer" sent opponents away from the movie theater by turning them on their heads.
The most current film in the demonic genre, which had no major new releases as competition,
Earned $27.2 million in North America on its opening weekend, according to studio figures revealed on Sunday.
That was more than the aggregate weekend box office for the following three movies.
The previous week's top film, "Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie," finished in a distant second place with $11.8 million and has earned $38.9 million after two weekends
Another horror sequel, "Saw X," opened in third with $8.2 million and has now earned $32.6 million after two weeks.
Although "The Exorcist: Believer" came close to recovering its $30 million estimated budget in a few days,
the movie's box office result was underwhelming as the first installment of a new trilogy.
